So, quick(ish) tip – do not get your nails wet without protection. Your nails are made up of layers of keratin; it’s not just one solid mass of NAIL MATERIAL. (That’s why nails peel sometimes – the layers separate and that top layer gets detached/damaged/whatever.)
These layers soak up water like a sponge, and that separates them which makes them vulnerable to damage, peeling, etc, right? But if you have a protective coating (BOTH SIDES!), the water can’t get in and separate the layers. (Think of it like painting a fence. You can’t just paint one side to prevent damage.)
So even if you don’t want to have Color Street on 24/7 (which I 100% do NOT understand, but you do you, boo), have SOMETHING on your nails if you’re going to shower, bathe, do dishes*, WHATEVER. A great base coat would be fine, in fact. This is a really fantastic one, if you’re not going to use Color Street. (But I mean, Color Street is base, color, and top coat all in one, so…why wouldn’t you use that? ;))
*If you’re going to have your hands actually IN dishwater v. just rinsing stuff and sticking it in the dishwasher, go ahead and wear gloves. (Yes, seriously. Your nails [AND SKIN!] will thank you, I promise.)
