Lots of folks (myself included) aren’t being held back by a fear of failure but rather a fear of success. For whatever reason, we have a belief we won’t be able to maintain the success or we don’t deserve the success or whatever other garbage we tell ourselves to keep from really going after our dreams with all our being.
So what can you do? Well, first things first, figure out what negative bullshit you’re feeding yourself and then stop that business in its tracks. If your thing is you don’t feel worthy of success, then you have to address that by creating a new internal monologue about your worth. Or maybe you think you’ll bomb out if you ever achieve success. Again, you need a new internal monologue.
But how do you create a new internal monologue? Affirmations. I KNOW, I KNOW. None of us want to be Stuart Smalley, but man, I’m here to tell you – that shit works. Louise Hay hasn’t been a best selling coach and author because she has her thumb up her ass. She knows and teaches the value of affirmations. Look, what do you have to lose by giving this a try? Obviously you want some kind of change or you wouldn’t have read this far; right? So give this a week or two and see how it goes. I promise you don’t have to tell anyone if you don’t want to. 😉
